Soren James is a writer and visual artist who recreates himself on a daily basis from the materials at his disposal, continuing to do so in an upbeat manner until one day he will sumptuously throw his drained materials aside and resume stillness without asking why. Joshua Novak lives and works in American midwestern suburbia with his wife, daughter, dog, and garden. He can make cheese from scratch and worries that cheese won’t be allowed on space flights due to air filtration contamination. The future space transport of fermentation in all of its forms worries Novak, who also enjoys making hot sauces, pickling, and smelling sourdough starter. In many early languages, there is no difference between words meaning magic and words meaning fermentation.
